Audio

The collection has over 400 tapes. Audio from tapes made by NMI PCVs will be added here as they come in. Below are a few samples:
  • Rota School Graduation Ceremony, June 7, 1968
  • 1) song, 2) welcome & address to graduates (maybe Isaac Calvo) 3) song, 4) graduate speaker, 5) song (Home on Rota), 6) song (Isla Luta), 7) graduate speaker. Hard to hear speeches but doubt any other recording exists. Have program
  • Kit Porter's taped presentation to Oakmont High School, 1968 about Rota and the need for books to be donated to library. Use first side of tape 0 to 8:32​
  • Rota School Graduation Ceremony, June 7, 1968 or June 4, 1969
  • 1) song "Don't Let the Rain Come Down," 2) Welcome & address to 9th graders. (Most powerful is the mind. You will decide the future of your island and choose its destiny If you do not think someone else will think for you.) 3) song. Hard to hear. Incomplete-1/2 of tape recorded over.
  • Rota School Students Describe Rota For Pen Pals At Oakmont School In Massachusetts, 1969
  • Rota 7, 8, 9 graders (19 speakers) talking about Rota and thanking Oakmont School for library books. Starts with Rota song then topics: job in home, sports, village, houses, holidays, food, weather, school, library, island, customs, transportation, church, government, politics, farms, tools, plants, livestock, history.
