Information, pictures, and story submitted by Jim Moses, May 2021
One day while exploring Tinian I came across the ruins of the old Leprosarium that had been on the island from the spring of 1948 until it was closed in 1955. At times there were over 100 Hansen's patients at the facility, which boasted several buildings. When abandoned in 1955, the remaining patients were sent to colonies in other parts of Micronesia, and the entire complex on Tinian was burned to the ground as a precaution against the spread of Hansen's disease. I found the five ampules in the rubble of the buildings, along with dishes and other artifacts. I have no idea what the liquid is inside each of them, although some of the ampules have faint labels inked to the glass.
